This software was the basis of the CSDS supplied software CVB for viewing and validating Cluster CDF files by the PI teams. The official CSDS product should be fetched as part of the Cluster User Interface from the official CSDS site. This page is maintained for historical purposes and for non-PI users who may wish to use the cdf browsing side of the software. It is no longer actively maintained.
QVB is an IDL package which enables a user to browse and display CDF data files as used within the Cluster Science Data System and other potential projects. QVB is supplied as an IDL save set and/or source and runs as a standalone environment. It is written by QMW staff as part of our role in the Cluster Science Centre within the UK. The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council funds this project for the express support of the UK Cluster community, and authorized supply is therefore limited. The software includes a copyright notice and disclaimer. Users are free to modify their own private copies of the software, but should keep the original QMW Copyright notice/disclaimer as part of any modified copy.
All IDL routines used by QSAS and QVB are described in the document
The latest version of the IDL source code is available as zipped sets (Zip 2.0.1):
QVB is not a supported product beyond bug fixes. Users are free to modify their own private copies of the source file(s), but should do so in a way which will facilitate any bug fixes made to the original source. Bug Reports should be sent to csc_support@qmw.ac.uk giving a detailed account of the behaviour experienced. QVB bugs contains a list of known bugs which will be solved before the next release.
