The Cluster Exchange Format is an ascii file with a specified syntax. Version 1 files were used for exchange of data other than the CSDS PP and SP files. Version 2 is to be used for delivery of data to and from the Cluster Active Archive.

There are syntactic differences between version 1 and 2 CEF files that renders the new syntax to be not backwardly compatible with the old. Version 1 of the syntax is described in

• ExchangeFormat is the html online version of the file
• ExchangeFormat.pdf is a pdf version of the file
• ExchangeFormat.tex is the latex source file
• ExchangeFormat_14.tex is the latex source file for CEF version 1 syntax.
• ExchangeFormat_14.pdf is a pdf file for CEF version 1 syntax.
